This Speaker Series event explored the role lawyers have played and continue to play in elected office in the United States serving in municipal, state and national offices.

Congressman David Cicilline was a member of the House Democratic leadership as Chair of the Policy and Communications Committee.  He was also a leader in the Congress on issues of core American values, serving as Chairman of the House Antitrust Subcommittee, Co-Chair of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, and Vice Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Prior to his election to Congress, Congressman Cicilline served two terms as Mayor of Providence, Rhode Island and four terms in the Rhode island House of Representative.  He is a graduate of Brown University and Georgetown University Law Center.
