Grover E. Cleveland is a Seattle lawyer, speaker and the author of Swimming Lessons for Baby Sharks: The Essential Guide to Thriving as a New Lawyer. He is a former partner at Foster Pepper PLLC, one of the Northwest’s larger law firms. His clients included the Seattle Seahawks and other entities owned by Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen. Throughout his career, Grover has mentored many new lawyers, and he is one of a very small percentage of lawyers who managed to become a partner at the same firm at which he began his law practice. While at Foster Pepper, he was selected as Rising Star for three years in a row by Washington Law and Politics magazine. He currently holds a legal and environmental policy position in Seattle. In that role, he oversees the work of other lawyers in many disciplines and all stages of practice. His broad range of experience both as a supervising attorney and as a client gives him a unique perspective on the skills new lawyers need to succeed. Grover is a regular contributor to national legal publications and a speaker on career success for law students and new lawyers, including presentations at national conferences, law firms of all sizes, and Harvard Law School. He was an academic scholarship recipient at St. Louis University School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate in 1992, magna cum laude. Before law school, Grover worked as a journalist and in public relations. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was a member of the Mortar Board academic honorary and the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary. Grover was named after his grandfather who was named after the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. There is no blood relationship.
