WATCH: D. Y. Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India’s Supreme Court, Visits Harvard Law School
On October 21, the Harvard Law School Center on the Legal Profession was lucky to host D. Y. Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India’s Supreme Court, in-person on the Harvard Law School campus. Justice Chadrachud, who became chief justice in November 2022, holds an LLM and an SJD from Harvard Law School. He was the 2022 recipient of CLP’s Award for Global Leadership; due to the pandemic, that award was bestowed online. Chief Justice Chandrachud’s visit in October 2023 allowed CLP to present the award to him in person for the first time.
To honor the occasion, David B. Wilkins, faculty director of the Center on the Legal Profession, hosted a Q&A with Chief Justice Chandrachud, where the Chief Justice answered questions about the future of the judiciary, access to justice, and legal education, among other topics.
